The book I read to research this post was Chesapeake Bay Retrievers How To Own Train and Care For Them by Crystal Anderson which is a very good book that I read at kindle unlimited. Chessies are the most independently minded of the retriever family and have a stubborn streak. They are descended fom a couple of dogs rescued from a ship that sank en route from America to Britain. They are a rare breed originally used in Chesapeake Bay area to retrieve ducks. They like to be kept busy as they are a working dog and like to swim. They are bred for this and can be left to sleep outside because they like some cold. They need a house with a garden. They resemble a chocolate labrador in appearance. They have a tendency to chew so should be encouraged to do that with toys and ie not your hand. They can get hip dyspacia and are susceptible to epilepsy. These are relatively rare though. Crystal does write guides to quite a lot of breeds. This book is around 35 pages so is quite short. I did enjoy it and do recommend it.
