The book I read to research this post was The Alaskan Malamute: Never A Prisoner by Tommy Williams which is a very good book that I read at kindle unlimited. This book is a kind of autobiography about Tommy’s relationship with his dog Noah. He befriended a lady on social media and also used to regularly compete with her at online gaming. They did decide to meet up and she bred Alaskan Malamutes and regularly put her dogs in competitions. One of the requirements for showing dogs is they can’t be neutered and one of her dogs had his testicles not descend probably and he had to be neutered as a result. Tommy took this dog on as a pet. Apart the neutering he was otherwise a championship at least potentially. Responsible breeders don’t make much from breeding because a lot of the money they make selling puppies goes back into things like having the suitability of dogs for breeding genetically checked as well as the associated costs of the pregnancy. A responsible breeder does it because they enjoy it and want to promote that breed. Despite the simularities of Malamutes to wolves they are only related distantly genetically with about as much in common as what a Yorkshire Terrier has. Some people in the past nonetheless have crossed Malamutes with wolves where the resulting dog is called a hybrid. Malamutes are very loyal and in keeping with the tradition the eskimoes had of them pulling heavy sleds are very strong on a par with Siberian Huskies. This book is around 160 pages so is a reasonable length. I did enjoy reading it and do recommend it.
